A Couple of Updates

We got a full length photo of the Veterans Quilt at the church today.

and a full length pic of the pieced backing too,  I see the sunshine from the windows is causing the front to shadow thru.  I'm updating the   CCQ   page with this quilt.  I call it the Veterans Diagonal Strippy.

I'm also updating the  Keys to Contentment  page to include blocks 5 and 6.  Here are those blocks.... not pressed or trimmed yet; will do that when it's time to assemble the project.

block 5

block 6

I'm limking up with Judy at Patchwork Times  and   Quilt Story   where you will discover lots of creative projects being shared.

RSC15 Sampler - June's blue light

I have the 2 light blue star  blocks ready for the RSC15 Sampler challenge.  Angela also released the tally needed for the alternate blocks, lots more cutting to do, a bit at a time. I thank Angela for all the work put into this project.  I'm looking forward to a beautiful quilt at the end of the year!

I'm linking up with Angela at Soscrappy.  Hop on over there to see what everyone else is creating with their scraps.

Veterans Quilt

Happy Monday!   This veterans twin size quilt has just come off my design wall. The binding wasn't finished at the time of the photo, but it is finished as of last evening.  Today it goes into the washer for final primping.

I designed it in EQ first.  The veterans home asking for bed quilts wanted  a specific plan with the cross in the center.  They will screen print prayers and messages on the cross.  The block designs and backing choices were up to each quilt maker. I'm hoping for a better photo later.

and here is the back, pieced with patriotic prints.  It's a big 70 x 90.  Simple quilting on this one as I work on a DSM and I struggle with big quilts.  But each quilt I do, I find myself making them bigger and bigger.  Some day I hope to grow up to a queen size.

Today I'm linking up with  Patchwork Times. Take a visit over there to see what other quilters have on their design wall.  You can vote for your favorite

And Tuesday, I'll be visiting .....    Freemotion By The River

Veterans Strippy

On my design wall this morning is part of a quilt in progress. I sewed all the parts this weekend, but can't fit it all on my design wall.  Now on to the assembly.  This quilt will finish at 70 x 90.

It is a special mission by the United Methodist Women's Association for a local veterans home.  They want to supply  twin size quilts for a 42 bed facility.  When the veteran leaves the home, he will take his quilt with him, so 42 quilts is just the beginning.

They ask that they all have a 7 x 9 grid with 10 inch blocks., with 7 squares in the center to be white in the shape of a cross. They will screen print special messages and prayer on the white blocks.  The remaining 56 blocks can be in any design.  I made up a few designs in EQ.  Our womens church group is also doing one and my quilt club is doing one.

Here is the EQ version:

I'm linking up with Judy at Patchwork Times.  Hop on over there to see all the wonderful projects being created by other quilters.
