Hands 2 Help Comfort Quilt progress

I've taken time to start 2 more comfort quilts for the Hands2Help program.  You can read all about the program  here ...................

Just getting more tops ready for pin basting at the church this coming Thursday.  I haven't decided who to send my quilts to yet as most of them measure approx 46 x 58 and are designed to appeal to the youth.

Here are two more tops nearly flimsy ready and have 2 more planned for the next couple days.  That should be 5 happy quilts to donate.  Yay!

This pattern is called Grandmas Goodness and is designed by Gudrun Erla of GEQuiltDesigns.com  It is so adorable and I plan to make many more of this style.  It measures 46 x 58.

This pattern is called Step by Step, designer is theirishquilter.com  I think I goofed on the color placement,  it is nearly a flimsy  You can see it needs trimmed and an outer border then it will also measure 46 x 58.

I see there will be lots of machine quilting to do next week.  In the meantime, I'm joining these fun linky parties.  Be sure to visit them to see what other creative quilters are sharing today.

3-Part Triangles - Designs Galore

Greetings.  Welcome to my blog post in honor of  Hands to Help. campaign.  I make donation/comfort quilts for gifting all year long.  I can't imagine why I've not participated in the Hands 2 Help  program before now.  Click on this icon to take you to all the information about Hands 2 Help.  Please be inspired to also participate.

I use  EQ8  and it lets you soar with unlimited design possibilities.  Today I'm happy to share with you a quick and easy pattern design. One simple block, 4 colors and you can create your own design simply by rotating the blocks.  I have not been able to come up with a catchy name for this design,  so I'm sorry to say it is called  3-Part Triangles.

Here is my original version of the 3-Part Triangle quilt.  It measures 56 x 56.  I used fabrics hoping to appeal to a young teen,  pinks and red print.  I quilted it with pink aurifil thread.

The backing is an adorable happy print.  It has lots of pink with orange flowers.  I couldn't resist using it here.  A poly batting and lots of quilting finished it.

I must admit it went quickly with accuquilt dies cutting the perfect  shapes for me.  I used the 3 inch quarter square triangle die, 3 inch half square triangle die and 6 inch half square triangle die, (finished sizes).

*Spec Note:   You can easily change the size of your quilt by changing the size of your 3-part triangle unit; i.e.  instead of my 6 inch finished units;  if you made 4 inch finished units your adorable quilt would be 32 inch square plus borders;  if your units were 8 inches instead of 6 inches,  your center quilt would be 64 inches plus borders.**

Fabric Requirements  ( EQ is generous with fabric requirements ) and it is very helpful to mention how many patches to cut

Paradise Puzzle - finish

This project was designed in EQ8.  My purpose was to combine January's Birds of Paradise block and February's  Snowball  block from Natalia Bonner's 2022 quilt along.  I have the workbooks with 12 quilting design each, so I needed a playground to stitch them on.  You will find Natalia's free quilt along   HERE  .

Here is my quilt.  I just started it in January.  It was definitely alot of piecing but accuquilt dies made quick and perfect work for cutting most of my shapes. It looks a bit busy but the fabrics. are lovely and it is so cozy, finishing at 68 x 80.  I made a note that it measured 76 x 80  but either I lost 8 inches in one direction from all the quilting or I measured wrong.

It has 100% cotton batting with Kansas Troubles extra wide backing.  I quilted it on my Janome Versa QP 18 sit down machine with Glide military gold thread and gray Bottom Line thread in the bobbin..

Here are some close-ups of the quilting with rulers and freehand.

This quilt doesnt have a home yet, but I'm saving it for someone's special gift.  In the meantime, I'm happy to join these linky parties.  Be sure to visit them to see what other quilters are sharing.
