I've been wanting to try out this block pattern for ages. I recently watched a youtube video where this block was made and it's been on my mind ever since. The video used rectangles for the background, then trimmed off all the excess to square up the block. I didn't want the extra waste PLUS I had accuquilt dies to cut those outer units for me, with less trimming waste.
These soft oranges look so pretty in the blocks. I wish I had time to make more of them today.

Very pretty blocks. I would have hated wasting fabric with the rectangles too, plus the triangles would still be easy to work with.
