Help How Do I quilt It - borders

Angela Walters is hosting a new quilt along challenge.  You can buy the gorgeous panel to quilt on or you don't have to as the video lessons are free.  They also come with free handouts.  You can find out all about it  at     How Do I Quilt It Challenge – Quilting Is My Therapy

In the meantime .................  the panel was so gorgeous, I determined it was only fit for a bedquilt.  So I delved into adding borders to make it queen size.  I began in EQ8, import a photo of the quilt, then start building around it.  It seems the border style I liked best was made up of 6" x 8" blocks.  It took much messing about to adjust inner borders so the blocks would fit properly around the quilt.  Then, you still have to sew them accurately!  Now, I've added 5 borders in the plan; 3 of which are open background.  These added borders were necessary when I found all my blocks are finishing at 7-3/4" instead of 8", which make for more adjustment to have it fit.

I'm getting too old for this.  I need to stick to kiddo quilts,  so much fun and quickly done!

So my progress has been to get this pieced border ready for assembly happening at church sew day.

This doesn't look like much  BUT  it is 42 blocks containing 12 pieces in each.  I have told myself "no more bed size quilts" --  more than once.

I'm joining these lovely linky parties this week.  Be sure to visit them to see what other creative quilters are sharing.
