I have been working on christmas items these past few weeks. I fell in love with an item in the Connecting Threads catalog. It burned in my mind until I had to make one. What was I thinking...lots of piecing and lots of applique. I also work under the theory that if you're gonna make one, it's just as quick to make two at the same time. I have the top to the first one ready to sandwich and quilt and the second top is waiting for the trees. It is fusible applique. I think I will quilt with silver thread which will sparkle in the black background. I will stitch it down & quilt at the same time. My letters are a tad too big but I love it anyway. Of course, one is for me and I will gift one.

What a beautiful piece--I can see why you "had to" make it;))) Funny how some things just grab ahold of you and you're helpless to resist, isn't it??? Hugs julierose
ReplyDeleteLovely Christmas quilt top! Well, making two of them is quite a job, and you did great on this one, I love that pattern too! Thank you for sharing this cute top, and linking up.
ReplyDeleteThat is a really cute Christmas quilt. I love the shapes of the trees!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Silver thread will add to the sparkle already there.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beauty!
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever idea to make two at the same time! This is very pretty and will make a nice gift also. Your idea of silver quilting thread will add just the right amount of sparkle to this holiday quilt. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

Very nice -- and kudos to you for making two!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love that! The black background and the patchwork rows are such a neat combination. Have fun quilting this one!
ReplyDeleteHi Kat, that is so cute! I'll be doing the same thing for my Floral Fusion, stitching the appliqué as I quilt. Looking forward to seeing your finished quilts. Thanks for linking up to Free Motion Mavericks.
ReplyDeleteI understand why you fell in love with the pattern. Lovely wall-hanging.
ReplyDeleteOh I love this!!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this, Kat!! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings!
ReplyDeleteSweet sentiment to ponder and enjoy on your wall, Kat! I like the 2-at-a-time idea, too!
ReplyDeleteYou thought what we all do when we see a project like this: "Oh that's so cute, and would be perfect for displaying during the upcoming holiday season and I have dies for that!" The good news is that it looks great and you got two tops done and one is almost ready for quilting (love the idea of the silver tread for quilting on the black). Great work and have fun moving them further along!
