I've been wanting to try out this block pattern for ages. I recently watched a youtube video where this block was made and it's been on my mind ever since. The video used rectangles for the background, then trimmed off all the excess to square up the block. I didn't want the extra waste PLUS I had accuquilt dies to cut those outer units for me, with less trimming waste.
These soft oranges look so pretty in the blocks. I wish I had time to make more of them today.
I'm joining these lovely linky parties this week. Please be sure to visit them to see what other creative quilters are sharing.

Very pretty blocks. I would have hated wasting fabric with the rectangles too, plus the triangles would still be easy to work with.
ReplyDeleteThose are so pretty in orange, Kat! It would be very handy to have an Accuquilt die for those outer triangles. I do think I made some of these one year that started out square and were trimmed so they turned on point - but I don't quite remember how I did that, lol!
ReplyDeleteYour soft orange blocks certainly do look pretty. I've been busy with other things this week so will start on orange shortly.
ReplyDeleteI love those blocks all aglow in orange. They are my someday list of things to do. What pattern are you following?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blocks! I love everything: the pattern, fabrics, colors, they are wonderful. Great idea to avoid scraps when it's possible ;) Thank you for sharing your pretty blocks and linking up.
ReplyDeleteWow. your blocks look great! I'm so behind on the RSC challenge. I need to finish last month and this month. It may be after our quilt show though! Finishing this last quilt is my main goal! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
ReplyDeleteHi Kat, those are really cute orange blocks! Thanks for linking up to I Quilted This!
