Dino Too - a flimsy

I have been puttering this week to use up the remainder of a strippy panel fabric of dinosaurs.  I had to make it much bigger, so did alot of colorful piecing for the sections between the panels.  It was only 36 inch wide, so added some side borders too.  It is now 48 x 58.  It won't get pin basted for quilting until next month.

I am now trying to finish up odds and ends and trim and store lots of scrappy leftovers from several projects.  May will be a quilting marathon month for me.

3 yd Lima

So I got carried away with this block.   The monthly 3yd quilt pattern for this month is "Lima".  You will find it over at  2024 3YD Quilt Series Sew Along - Material Girlfriends.

The RSC color for April is yellow.  So, multi-task it , I made (24 )- 12 inch blocks cut from the yellow scrap bin. I will add a couple borders to bring it to a twin size for the foster child mission at church.  There should be enough yellow here to bring some sunshine to a child.

After spending an entire day cutting from scraps, I was intrigued to see how quickly it would be cut using strip piecing methods and just 3 fabrics and so this pink one is the result of that experiment.  This one is (20) 9-inch blocks. The dark burgandy print looks brown in the photo.

Charlie

This quilt is the result of February's  3 -yard quilt design at

2024 3YD Quilt Series Sew Along - Material Girlfriends

I selected fabrics from a collection of an Angela Walters quilt along from days/year? past.  There was enough to make it a twin size, so that was my goal.  I made 35 blocks.  There was a limited amount left of the rose/white design print,  so I put it all in the border with a bit saved aside for center squares of the blocks. The green background fabric is a celery green and not as dark as it looks in the photo. It finished at 66 x 84 and has already been donated to the local foster child mission at our church.

I used a  light gray spiral wide backing and 80/20 batting.  I quilted it with Glide threads of course; navy thread cross stitching in the chain portions and a great blending thread in all the rest, called Lemon Ice. I used  the "Every Leaf " templates by Amanda Murphy to make the flower design in the blocks.  It really went quickly.  I tried  using the every leaf templates to make a horizontal chain design in the flower border (without marking).  That didnt go as well, but the child recipient won't know its not perfect.

Dino Dinosaur

I stuck with this project until it was finished...a purpose and a deadline always works wonders.  This quilt was pieced with assorted panel parts and more from stash.  It was intended to be a child's throw/play quilt, but I thought it made sense to use up the panels,  and so it turned into a twin bed size - 68 x 85 .   Now I just need to piece together some leftovers to make pillowcases.

The backing is an aqua wideback fabric and  80/20 batting. I quilted it on my sit-down with Glide aqua thread in top and bobbin.  Oh I did use matching color Glide threads in many parts of the panels. It has a variety of quilting designs; diamond crosshatch in the long panels, straight lines in some divider sections, Stars in some dividers and larger stars in the final border.  The dinosaur blocks were stitched around the elements with stippling in the backgrounds.
