3 yd Lima
So I got carried away with this block. The monthly 3yd quilt pattern for this month is "Lima". You will find it over at 2024 3YD Quilt Series Sew Along - Material Girlfriends.
The RSC color for April is yellow. So, multi-task it , I made (24 )- 12 inch blocks cut from the yellow scrap bin. I will add a couple borders to bring it to a twin size for the foster child mission at church. There should be enough yellow here to bring some sunshine to a child.

This quilt is the result of February's 3 -yard quilt design at
2024 3YD Quilt Series Sew Along - Material Girlfriends
I selected fabrics from a collection of an Angela Walters quilt along from days/year? past. There was enough to make it a twin size, so that was my goal. I made 35 blocks. There was a limited amount left of the rose/white design print, so I put it all in the border with a bit saved aside for center squares of the blocks. The green background fabric is a celery green and not as dark as it looks in the photo. It finished at 66 x 84 and has already been donated to the local foster child mission at our church.
I used a light gray spiral wide backing and 80/20 batting. I quilted it with Glide threads of course; navy thread cross stitching in the chain portions and a great blending thread in all the rest, called Lemon Ice. I used the "Every Leaf " templates by Amanda Murphy to make the flower design in the blocks. It really went quickly. I tried using the every leaf templates to make a horizontal chain design in the flower border (without marking). That didnt go as well, but the child recipient won't know its not perfect.

Dino Dinosaur
I stuck with this project until it was finished...a purpose and a deadline always works wonders. This quilt was pieced with assorted panel parts and more from stash. It was intended to be a child's throw/play quilt, but I thought it made sense to use up the panels, and so it turned into a twin bed size - 68 x 85 . Now I just need to piece together some leftovers to make pillowcases.

London Calling - Blocks 7, 8, 9
More blocks ready for London Calling. Cutting one each of different fabrics and sizes is not my strong suit. These little blocks are definitely a challenge and either I'm mixed up (which is always possible) or there is error in naming fabric numbers in the instructions. Thank goodness for color images. Dont look too closely at my block #9, the wheels on the bus that go round and round -- mine are more like Fred Flinstones.
My Block 7 & 8 both required alot of unstitching and re-doing. It was not my best day.
Block # 9 gives you a bit of a choppy ride on the bus. (no refunds). I am quite happy with the clock.

Autumn in Ohio
Is this a catchy name for a bed quilt made of Ohio Stars in Autumn colors? I started piecing this in April of 2022. Of course, it got set aside several times. Then you reach a point where it's time to get it done and move on.
I quilted it on my Janome Versa Sit Down. It was quite a job pushing the 90 x 98 quilt about while free motion quilting. I used assorted colors of Glide thread with 80/20 batting. I finished quilting it in February and it took several evening sessions to hand stitch the binding down. My hand joints feel it too. The backing is a tan speckled extra wide print from Kansas Troubles.
I am delighted to have this huge UFO finished. I am joining these linky parties this week. Be sure to visit them to see what other creative quilters are sharing.

Alpha 3- yard Quilt and Starry Night 3-yard Quilt finishes
I've been quilting up some recently made flimsies. The first is Alpha which is a 3 yard quilt pattern offered by MaterialGirlfriends.com. My version finished at 47 x 55. I quilted it with Glide thread. You can see the bottom corner reveals the backing which is a red/black plaid fleece.
My other finish is another 3-yard quilt pattern; this one offered by sewcanshe.com. The pattern is called Stars and Ladders. My version finished at 45 x 57.

Two Finishes
I shared these flimsys in recent weeks. They are now machine quilted and bound. I needed the basting pins for new sandwiching later this week which helps keep the cycle of starts and finishes moving along.
The Pooh Bear16-Patch was made as challenge to work from the green scrappy bin for RSC in January. I quilted it in a diagonal grid with Glide 40 wt. thread. It measures 43 x 56.
It has an 80/20 batting and a nice gray fleece backing.
I couldn't resist quilting up this little Scrappy Love quilt since it is needed for a gift next month. It came about because the RSC color for February is red. Didn't make much of a dent in that scrap bin, so hope to work from it some more this week.
I had a grand time quilting it with a pink Glide thread. I treated each shape, area or block independently; which is my typical way of quilting. The feathers in the hearts dont show up well in the dark fabric. It measures 28 inches square which can be useful for a playmat or over the carseat.
It also has 80/20 batting and a nice soft knit type print of pinks with a bit of silver fabric on the back. The quilting might show up better on the back. An 80/20 batting makes a nice foundation for quilting.

Scrappy Love
Since I did such a thorough job with my bin of green scraps last month, I was hoping to carry the habit through this year. I admit it is a time consuming process. I have to choose their purpose by trimming to sizes , sort into strips or precuts of squares and triangles and decide what to make with them.
This little project came about because Angela called the RSC color for February 'Red' and I needed a special little baby quilt. This quilt will only be 28 inch square but perfect for infant and/or tossing over a car seat or playmat.
It was inspired by a quilt posted HERE. I changed up the piecing just a bit to eliminate a few seams. The background fabric is really a very pale pink. The photo was taken inside. Maybe I'll get to quilting it up this week.

Color My World Q4K
Just finished this colorful quilt for kids. I had leftovers from a fat quarter collection and chose this quilt design to use it up. I got the idea from an online photo and made my own plan to fit the size I wanted. It finished 40 x 48. I made a scrappy binding from leftover strips. I quilted it on a Janome sit down. The fleece backing made it difficult to free motion quilt smoothly.
It has 80/20 batting and is quilted with a cream shade of Glide 40 wt thread in top and bobbin.
