Charmed Pink D9P

This charm pack and pink accent fabric was part of a gift package I won at the quilt show in April.  I thought it would make up nicely into a D9P pattern.  As it turns out,  the pink was so harsh, I tried to tone it down a bit with  white sashing.   It turned out 44" x 44".

Over 60's Green - OMG

Over 60's - Green -OMG

The Over 60's embroidered blocks is one of my monthly projects for the RSC17 at Soscrappy.  This month's color is green.  This weekend I pushed myself to get the block cut and assembled and ready for hand embroidery.  There is alot of pieces in this block.  That's how it came by the name "Over 60's" as there is that many half square triangles in this block.

I am joining up with Pat of Elm Street Quilts for the OMG-One Monthly Goal challenge for May.  My goal is to get the embroidery design stitched in the center.  Linking up here:

RSC17 - Reds for March

I spent March getting quilting ready for April's quilt show, which left me no time to work the red scraps.  Since April was mixed prints month, I found it a great time to catch up / cut up   the reds.  I still have a few churn dash blocks to make; otherwise my RSC projects are now red-ready.

Here are  12 (20 triangles blocks).  I don't know,  does this block have an official name????  Also a red crayon for the child's crayon quilt.

Finally,  this is my first row for the row quilt swap project with the guild.  Lots of red scraps cut up here...  Lots of pieces, but I used the go cutter this time, and it fit together very well.

My Neighbor's Garden

I can finally share what I've been working on the past month.  I have kept it under wraps because it was intended for a quilt club challenge for the quilt show, which took place this past weekend.  The challenge was to create a quilt, any size, depicting your vision of 'spring'.

I worked on my vision, one row at a time.  As I finished a row, I let it tell me what it wanted next.  I was thrilled with how it evolved.  It finished at 60 x 70, and most special was that it won  the 1st Place ribbon and a very generous gift basket at the show.  This show is a small, local show.  It is not professionally judged, but is based on viewer's choice voting.

I hate to boast, but I'm so tickled with my first ribbon that I am sharing my joy with these lovely sites this week.  Be sure to visit them each day to see what others are sharing too.

Over 60's - Aqua

This 18 inch block was prepared back in February for the RSC17 monthly challenge.  As I have been knee-deep in hand stitching bindings on very large quilts,  the hand embroidery on this Over 60's block has been formenting on the hanger.

So, my OMG - One Monthly Goal for April will be hand embroidering the center design.  I have been stitching through all 3 layers to become part of the quilting too.

Indian Trails - a fine finish!

I am so delighted to be able to share my OMG finish for March.   Here is the original post committing  to the One Monthly Goal with Elm Street Quilts ..............

It was another huge endeavour where I spent many an afternoon quilting on this one.  I used the walking foot in some places;  then I grew into FMQ.  It might be hard to see in the photo.  I FMQ a design in all 82 black & white squares on the quilt.  I also used FMQ with a very long ruler to quilt on the outermost border and the gold separating trim.  I didnt get a photo of the back, but that has a mix of lovely black and white print fabrics.  It took a few very large pieces to get it covered.

This monster ended up  92 x 112.  The colorful arrow blocks are all scrappy strips and pieces.  It began as an RSC16 project over at SoScrappy.  DH and another very tall man needed to stand on chairs for me to get a full photo at church, and it still dragged on the floor.
