This quilt is finished in honor of Marianne Urban, our dear stashbuster friend and giver of many good strategies, advice and intentions. Marianne challenged the stashbuster group to an Irish Chain Challenge ( ICC ) . Stashbusters is always offering up a challenge of some sort to help us toss our current projects aside and dig in with some new inspiration.
The ICC challenge was for 2018; I began pre-cutting the scrappy squares in late 2017. The top was assembled ??? probably 2018, then it hung on a hanger in the laundry room until this month! I spent several afternoons quilting on it by sectioning off areas with stitching, then playing with designs in the open areas. It was not all pre-planned, but decided as I worked a section along. It was an open playground for me this time.
The blocks are 9 inches finished and the quilt measures 63 x 81. I also used scrappy binding. It has Hobbs 80/20 batting and stitched with Glide thread on top and Bottom Line in the bobbin.
Okay, here is the quilt .......................
