Chips on the Stairs

I'm working on a personal potato chip challenge this summer. I've collected several pics off the internet for inspiration. Over time, I collected a small drawer of potato chip units.  This first project was made from totally scrappy chips because one day I decided to just sew them in pairs, willy nilly.  However there were not enough for a quilt and it was so scrappy, it lacked continuity.

Then I came across a pic called Return Croche posted on pinterest by Jean Mentzer.  I pulled 2 fabrics to use for alternate blocks and was able to get a flimsy 40 x 48.  I added a couple borders to bring it up to the size I wanted.

  5. It's amazing how a simple block can look so pretty! That black and white block really pulls the scraps together. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

  7. That is a great layout to use those chips. The alternate block with the same fabrics repeated really pulls it together. Great finish.

  8. Chips on the Stairs is the perfect name for your quilt design which is a lovely quilt. I think calling the rectangles chips instead of bricks is much more whimsical and therefore more fun 🤩.
