Sailing

I was picking on google for blue and yellow quilts and stumbled on a pic like this one and couldn't resist doing it.  It was a bit of work,  sewing all those 2 - 1/2 inch squares together, drawing the boats in EQ which I paper pieced.  Now it is a completed flimsy 47 x 55.  It covers my quilt of  the month for RSC.  The color for March is yellow.

I have tons of tops to quilt at this point, so don't know when I'll get this one quilted, but I'm aiming for this year!  In the meantime, I'm joining these lovely linky parties this week.  Be sure to visit them to see what other creative quilters are sharing.

my DH has always loved to sail--tho' just with friends-- as we certainly could not afford a boat ourselves...

  5. Isn't that cute?! Piecing together all those 2.5 inch squares might be tedious, but it gives such a fun look to your quilt. I love it!

  9. You did a great job with your sailboats. Hum, lots of tops, eh? I'm trying to quilt one top a week. I'm averaging about 2 a month but I seem to be finishing tops at the same rate. Hopefully I'll get one of my quilts done this week.

  11. Blue and yellow make such a lovely color combination. What a great way to use up scraps with yellow sky and blue ocean. Love the sailboats and the plane.

  12. This piece is delightful, Kat. You really nailed the scale of the airplane well; I feel like the tendency would be to make the plane too large in relation to the sailboats below but yours is just right to be recognizable and yet safely in the distance, not about to crash into the boats! Good luck with your quilting goals!
