I finished a quilt 4 kids this week. The center portion was made from lots of leftover pieces from some gifted jelly roll strips. I can't remember the name of the blog that sent them to me. Initially I started a top by Alycia Quilts, which is not finished.
Okay so these leftover strips were in my scrap bin and since they worked together so well, I had to dig deep in my stash to find other fabrics to compliment the light winter batiks. Found a few pieces of other lights and even a couple bluish purples...for this one I did what I could with what I had to work with, which is a perfect challenge that I don't practice often enough.
This quilt finished at 46 x 54. It has a fleece backing and I free motion quilted it with assorted designs in different areas with a Glide silver thread. It went very well and quickly too. It goes in my donation pile. I even did a lengthy feather in the long side borders, which turned out much better than my last attempt at feathers, which turned into a vine of leaves. Sometimes the brain has a mind of its own.
