Carol's Topper

I re-created this topper from a photo that was shared on one of my quilting groups years ago when we were still on Yahoo.  I don't remember much except I called it Carol's Topper.  So if you are the Carol who first shared her topper, be sure to let me know.

Here is the photo I kept in my quilt gallery folders all these years.  It pays off not to have a clear-out.

Here is my topper.  I eliminated the background pieces.  I made mine to measure 36 inches. I want it to hang over the edge on a smaller end table.  It is not quilted yet until I decide whether to birth it or bind it.

I'm joining these lovely linky parties this week.  Please be sure to visit them to see what other creative quilters are sharing with us.

  1. I really like your "take" on this piece, Kat. the colors are so pretty together--nice work...
I agree, sometimes it pays not to have a "clear out"--I hate clearing out only to find that I wish I had that book, fabric, whatever back again!!;(((( [Maybe that is why I keep on dragging my feet with moving things out..or do I just really like my "stuff"?] hahaha thanks for sharing ==hugs, Julierose

  4. Carol's Topper is great. You did a wonderful job of interpreting the picture into the topper. Love your color choices - the gold shines amid all the green/teal? I was in several early quilt message boards -- can't remember if they were part of Yahoo or earlier. I tend to take screen shots and stash pictures the same way although I doubt I have any quite as old as yours.

  7. What a lovely topper! It would look so cool if you birthed it, but with all those ins and outs it would be so complicated! Can't wait to see what you do. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

  9. That is so pretty - I love the different shades of teal and turquoise! You did a wonderful job figuring out the pieces you needed to recreate the shape of the topper. Will you finish this with those angles and edges?
