Bear Hug Mission con't

Mary Johnson, who initiated this project calls it the Little Quilt Project.  I should have stayed with that because some are little quilts to be wrapped around a stuffie and some are small baby or car seat quilts.  You can read about Mary's project  HERE .  This outreach has been very welcomed in my communities.

This week I have finished 4 little quilts. It helped me move the stack along by pairing all the remaining donated tops with batt and backings all ready to quilt on.

These first two quilts are I Spy type toppers donated by our Teresa G.   I quilted one with an orange peel grid which seems to be my favorite at this moment for quilting on smallish squares.  I quilted the other with straight lines going in several directions.  This little lion looks like he was attacked by a bobcat.

This sweet quilt top was donated by Kathy Nyman.  I quilted it with alternating lines in several directions.

This topper is baby size at 35 x 35.  It was donated by Cindy Weber.  If it's a block style with borders, I can't seem to keep it simple and so I fmq different designs in areas.  I was a bit rusty on the final border but I dont think a baby will mind.  I used a ruler for the straight lines.

Here is the back,  a colorful print because the colors went perfectly with the top.  I'm fussy that way.

I'm joining these lovely linky parties this week.  Please be sure to visit them to see what other creative quilters are sharing.

  4. Your little quilts are wonderful, no matter what you call them, Kat! They look to me like a great way to practice your FMQ skills without having to haul around a big quilt. You've got some fun finishes there!

  5. Very cute quilts. Do you do rounded corners because it makes the binding easier? I think they look terrific. I might try that on one of my quilts.

  8. All of these are just wonderful, they will be welcomed by their recipients. Lovely feather work on that last one, it really elevated it from simple medallion block to a stunner!

  9. Hi Kat, those are such cute bear hug quilts. My next Table Scraps Challenge project will consist of squares so that I can quilt it with orange peels! I love the FMQ of your baby quilt. It just adds so much - that final border is gorgeous! Thanks so much for linking up to FM Mavericks!
