Cozy Afternoons - great progress.

Maybe I should always fix my blunders on Sunday after church.  I didn't want to put this troubled block away on a shelf.  If  I was to fix it, it had to be now while the process is fresh.  So here is the troubled block.................

I got out the seam ripper and removed the border strips and triangles.  I cut 4 new triangles to insert between these outer strips and the center block.  Sewed them on, decided it looked awful because I picked one of the darkest rasberry shade,  proceeded to remove those triangles  and made 4 new ones in the light pink.  Today I was determined!

Now will those outer border strips and black triangles still fit ?...............  2 fit, 2 did not.  I added pieces onto the ends of one of the "did nots" and re-trimmed it.  For the 2nd "did not",  I removed the black triangle, made a new stripset, then put it back together.

So glad to have this block,  finished and correct!

Cozy Afternoon Blk 5

I cleaned off the design wall so I could see them all  together.  This photo inspires me to plan some more redwork in the setting triangles to frame it - and some more borders.  It will be a "plan as you go" kind of project.  Sometimes those are the most fun and work out the best for me.  Isn't this awesome...

Cozy Afternoons

I spent this afternoon catching up on the Cozy Afternoon BOM.  I had blocks 4 & 5 to finish.  The center embroideries were ready....today was the piecing.  I goofed up more than a few times today.  Was I not supposed to sew on Saturday?

Block 4 doesn't look too bad, tho I did goof on the arrangement of the triangles around the center.  I can live with it.  It almost looks like the shadow of an angle in the background.

Cozy Block 4

and here is Block 5.  Do you see a problem here?  LOL  It is totally missing 4 light triangles that were to go around the center square before adding the borders on the corners. and it was trimmed off square.  I wonder if the corner units will fit after I insert those missing triangles?

Cozy Block 5

I haven'd decided how I will turn this into a quilt.  Shall I add more blocks, more piecing with alternating blocks, more embroidery ????  So many choices and I will have to sleep on it.  I hope to create a great setting for these blocks.

Americana QAL Row 4

I haven't posted in quite a while....not because I've not been busy in the sewing room.  I've been concentrating on smaller items in preparation for the UMW Lydia's Circle bazaar.  I have invested alot of time and supplies.  I must say I am getting weary of little projects.  I look forward to doing real quilts again soon, I hope.

In the meantime, trying to catch up on a few boms I've invested in.  Here is my Row 4 for the Americana Row QAL.  You can read all about that project by clicking the button on the left sidebar.  Little pieces of applique is not at the top of my skill level, but I persevered.  I'm sure the individual who receives this quilt will not be aware of its imperfections.

and as in the previous row, I have not stitched down the appliques yet, but they are fused.  I hope I don't leave all of that chore to the end of the project.

I also have the Keys to Contentment block #8 finished.  This is a monthly collection of  embroidered blocks which will be framed with piecing and turned into a small quilt.  October is the last month for this project.  Ignore that loose piece of red thread sitting on the block, please.
