Elmo's Q4K

I prepped this 'strippy' style quilt last year.  These kits are great when you need a quick finish.  They are all quilts-for-kids size at approx 48 x 56.  It's also a great playground for practicing new free motion quilt designs.

The Elmo fabric was donated to me.  I pulled some other fabrics that were colors in the focus print.  The backing is a red fleece and cotton batting between.  I free motion quilted continuous loopy circles in the printed areas and a crosshatch grid in the red and another easy design in the blue border.  ( I forgot its name). A buttery yellow Omni thread on the top and gray for the blue border and bobbin.  The thread just disappears in the fleece.

In the meantime, I'm joining these lovely linky parties this week.  Please be sure to visit them to see what other creative quilters are sharing.

Tossed Leaves Wall Hanging

I adored this panel the minute I saw it.  I got it at my LQS along with some extra prints from the fabric line.  It is called Tossed Leaves.

With EQ's help, I added some borders to bring it up to the desired size of  46 x 55 .  I fmq around and in all of the elements and pieced and plain borders.  I kept the quilting light and did not put a filler in the cream background.  I used several shades of Glide threads.  Its now hanging and I'm working on a complimentary table runner.

More Bear Hug Quilts

I've just finished up the final batch of  lil bear hug tops donated from several quilter friends of Heartstrings Group.  I paired them with batt, backing & binding and got to quilt them up and donate to wonderful charities in my area.  I've used walking foot and free motion quilting with Omni and Glide threads. This is a long term mission for me.  You can learn about the program over at Heartstrings.

Puppy Print - I couldn'd find the name of who donated the top

Lil Churn Dash donated by Kathy Nyman

These next two tops donated by Bonnie Adler

The last two tops donated by Cindy Weber

I've also been working on some autumn decorations and larger quilts 4 kids and I've got a lovely batch of donated baby size quilt tops I need to pair up with batt & backings for more mission work.

National Jelly Roll Saturday Report

My Jelly Roll Saturday was supposed to be a quilt sewn together in a day, right?  So I did work on it pretty diligently  BUT  just finished putting on the borders today.  I did interrupt the progress with alot of appointments this week and some free motion quilting on my Tossed Leaves panel to get ready for autumn decor.

I have several jelly roll quilts I want to whip up, but I chose this one first because I was gifted the perfect jelly roll and bolt of background fabric for it.  I used the Safari 2 jelly roll pattern by Gina Gempshaw and quilted treasures.  I know I have the free pattern but heck if I can find a link to it on the net now !

The instructions called for 26 safari print jelly roll strips and 1-1/2 yards of background.  The thing is...the pattern had you cut pieces for a block which only used half of the strip.  So,  I made double the blocks for a twin size quilt.  So with a couple borders added,  the flimsy measures in at 64 x 92.  I have 16 full length strips leftover from this roll.  I might use them to make a very scrappy binding.

Here is a clearer photo of some of the blocks .................
