4-Patch Strippy

I thought this little strippy quilt design would be quick to put together.  Usually digging through the stash and choosing the fabrics is the most tedious task.  This will be a nice child size - 40 x 54.  I have some special plans for the body of the quilt, which I hope to have ready to share next time.

I'm linking up with Judy at Patchwork Times where you will find out what is on other quilters' design wall.

Tuesday Archives # 17 - Dogs & Dots

It's Tuesday Archives and all about dogs and dots.  I certainly have some special things to share about dogs today.  My very first blog post introduced my 'real-life shadow'.......... Kody.  He is now a 9 year old sheltie, always under foot and he has some control issues.  My sewing room is at the back of the house.  He loves to be outside but he must keep track of me, so whenever I'm in the sewing room, he can do both.

Kody

This year I commissioned an internet friend in Nebraska to make an applique of Kody.  She did it via this photo.  I gave her cart blanche as to size or design.  She loves detail and I knew it would be a wonderful piece.  It is also beautifully quilted.  I am glad it is wall hanging size. It is displayed in my dining area.  You can find the creator, Sarah Lynn  HERE .

Tree Skirt UFO

The 2nd part of my UFO challenge last month was to quilt and bind this tree skirt.  The parts were all waiting to be finished since January?  So now it's finally finished.  It will be gifted out or put in a craft sale.  It's been difficult to get true colors in the photos of this skirt, imagine it more green than blue/green.

I always make them reversible by using a pretty christmas print on the back.  I think I like this side better.

Scraphappy Saturday - Yellows 2

Week 2 for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge - I decided to multi-task with one project  I made a yellow block which is actually a quarter block for a scrappy block I made for the Scrap Scramble project on another group.

So here is the quarter block with yellows and golds.

Here is the complete block for the Scrap Scramble project.  This is a 12-1/2 inch block and is made with 116 pieces.  It took all afternoon. LOL  The best part is that all the pieces except the white background is from the scrap bins.  They never diminish.

Scraphappy Saturday - Yellows 1

My first project for each new month of color for the RSC14  has been the row quilt.  Every month I get to choose a different block to make my row into.

This month the color is yellow.  I don't have alot of yellow variety and I especially don't have alot of scraps in yellow, so I picked a block that could accommodate my scrap assortment.  I believe some have termed this block as the firecracker block.

and here are all the rows working together..............................

I'm linking up with Angela at Superscrappy where you can see what others are creating with their yellow scraps.......  AND ..... I'm linking up with Judy at Patchwork Times for Design Wall Monday and Connie at Freemotion by the River  on Tuesday.!

Kinda Kansas Dugout - UFO Finish

We had a UFO challenge weekend over on Cbees.  I have spent the past week working up the borders and getting the top and back ready for quilting.  This weekend it got quilted and finished with binding and a label.  Phew.  That was more work than it was supposed to have been!  The sun was still shining pretty bright, but I took the photo anyway.
