It's a Block Party !

I didnt have a flimsy or finished quilt to share so ....... I'm having a block party of blocks made over the past several weeks.

This is the lovely feathered star block which finishes at 24 inches.  It will be the focal point of my Mystery Stars QAL offered by   Jelly Roll Club - Mystery Stars Sampler Quilt (google.com)  This one was a challenge and once may just be enough.

These two blocks were just squares play time.  I do have a plan .....

These remaining blocks are all from the London Calling BOM from GEQuiltDesigns.com.

The first block is segments for the Tower Bridge

This block is for the Underground Railway

and finally all the pieced segments for the 2023 Summer Mystery shared by Grid Girls on Facebook.  I call my project Plum Pudding ...............

With all this piecing going on, it's no wonder I don't have a quilt finish to share.  I'm joining these lovely linky parties this week.  Be sure to visit them to see what other creative quilters are sharing.

Safari Panel

This is my progress this week.  Lots of interruptions but mostly too much time spent online.  I quilted up this little panel with free motion around and in the shapes.  I kept it light for child cuddling.  This little panel was gifted to me by a dear friend and quilting buddy, along with the flannel print that you can see on the back where the bottom right corner is pinned up.  She has since aged out of doing the craft.

This piece finished at 32 x 43.  I quilted it with Glide thread.  I tried a sample of King Tut gold variegated which gave my machine fits and so it is eliminated from my thread drawers. I worked for 1-1/2 days getting my machine behavior back to its normal.

Dino 2

I used the remaining border strip panel of dinosaurs; added more pieced rows and made up this toddler size play quilt.  I shared the flimsy in an earlier post,  now it is quilted and bound and ready for gifting.  It finished at 46 x 55.  I quilted it with aqua Glide thread on top and navy in the bobbin.  The backing is a solid navy fleece.

Plum Pudding - Part 1

This was the week I should have been machine quilting,  SO,  I started a new quilt that was on my bucket list!  Obviously, I need supervision.

This project is the 2023 Summer Mystery created by Deb of Grid Girls on facebook.  I actually have at least 3 different border style prints to design around with this pattern.  It is no longer free but you can still find it  at  Row-Deo as PDF download (debscatsnquilts.com)

I cannot tell you how many afternoons it took me to make these 56 units of pineapple-style blocks!  Seems like I was always trimming or re-cutting.  I will definitely choose a different block for my next version of this pattern.  I used the mini square up slotted ruler by GE Quilt Designs and they trimmed up perfectly.  The ruler doesn't move or allow the block to move while you're trimming.

These are inside shots of my rows made so far.  I think the hardest part is behind me. (as I laugh at myself).  The colors are a bit brighter than it looks in the photos.  I subscribe to GEQuilt Designs monthly Goody's Color Club of blender collections. As it turns out, there were 2 collections that went perfectly with this border panel. the dusty pinks and the plums.  It's actually 56-1/2" wide
