I began making granny square blocks this year following along with the RSC color of the month. I made 9 blocks. These blocks are so traditionally adorable but turns out they are not my favorite to make. Since I had 9 blocks done, it only seemed fitting to make enough for a lap quilt setting.
This week I made 3 more blocks; an aqua, a blue and a green. This makes 12 blocks so I imported my block photos and played in EQ with possible settings.
Here is my imported block photos in a layout. I will let this setting simmer just in case I come up with a better idea. I think it needs a final border of a large and pretty print. Suggestions are always welcomed.
I'm joining these lovely linky parties this week. Please be sure to visit them to see what other creative quilters are sharing.
Wishing you a happy and creative week. Thanks so much for stopping by.

I love it just as you designed it, Kat!!! That is stunning!!!
ReplyDeleteThose Granny Square blocks really will make a wonderful lap quilt.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely layout! The interesting sashing really pulls all the colorful blocks together. I could see a pretty floral as a final border, too!
ReplyDeleteI don't like the idea of the border. If anything I'd just go with 4" matching background. Dark binding is ok.
ReplyDeleteWhat a looker your layout is! I'm with Gayle about nixing a printed fabric border. Your sashing plan is awesome!
ReplyDeleteYour creative layout is lovely, I love how the sashing are expending the X of the blocks! Thank you for sharing this plan and linking up!
ReplyDeleteA classic set for a classic block! I've done this garden maze set a few times and liked it, but anything you do with the blocks will be terrific. I do agree, I think they need a pretty print border. Maybe a Kaffe Fassett?
ReplyDeleteI like the layout just as you have shown here.
ReplyDeleteI am very partial to granny square blocks and really like what you have done with yours! The lattice sashing is perfect. I don’t know whether I would add a border or not. It probably would depend on whether I needed it to be bigger.
ReplyDeleteGreat setting idea! Can't wait to see what you finally decide for this! Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

The blocks are great and I love the setting you came up with. Perfect!! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
ReplyDeleteHi Kat, the setting is really great. I thing that a fun, multicoloured border would be awesome :-) Thanks for linking up to I Quilted This!
ReplyDeleteThat is a fabulous setting for those blocks. So colorful too!
