Quilters Gifties 2025
This is the beginning of my quilty gift package for fav local friends. Of course, each one is packed with 2 Villa Rosa Design cards and fabric kit. I will politely insist that we just draw names next year. This is all I have to share this week in the way of quilty accomplishments. It's becoming a difficult month.
As I made the first two, I kept adjusting measurements to my liking. I also seem to need to write down pattern instructions in my own terms. The problem could be in understanding my own instructions if I return to make more of them several months later. This pattern can hold a large collection of VRD pattern cards. You can get the pattern HERE .
I used a lively fat quarter collection from GE Quilt Designs. It was fun to combine parts of 3 different fat quarters in each one. Of course, I mixed them up, so each holder would be a tad different.
Here is a view with the pattern pocket open ....

Merry Christmas Panel Set
These Christmas panels are published by Angela Walters of Quilting Is My Therapy. You can get yours HERE .
I pushed myself to quilt up these panels right after I finished my Crimson Christmas project because I thought they compliment each other in design for the Christmas season.
The main Merry Christmas panel finished at 35 x 40. The background is a very deep green but may look black in the photo. I free motion quilted it with Glide Gold thread in and around the motifs and red thread for stippling in the dark green background. I always keep the ruler foot on the machine. This time I thought I would experiment with the Micro foot. I struggled with it, could not stay on my mark and it seemed to cast a shadow. I found myself always watching the tiny arm that reaches out instead of the needle. I also tried the open toe fmq foot but ended up getting back to the ruler foot. I seemed to have more control with the ruler foot. Here is the micro foot, Helen Godden demonstrated using it. Of course, she made it look easy. I will keep practicing with it.
So here is my Merry Christmas panel followed by a photo of the back
This is the buffet table runner. I think Angela designed it for a bench pillow. It finished at 21 x 39. I used the gold Glide thread in and around the motifs and green thread in the background area. I fmq the background with swirls. The swirls are a bit bigger than I wanted them to be. I know I used to make them smaller. I must be getting rusty.
