Americana QAL Row 4

I haven't posted in quite a while....not because I've not been busy in the sewing room.  I've been concentrating on smaller items in preparation for the UMW Lydia's Circle bazaar.  I have invested alot of time and supplies.  I must say I am getting weary of little projects.  I look forward to doing real quilts again soon, I hope.

In the meantime, trying to catch up on a few boms I've invested in.  Here is my Row 4 for the Americana Row QAL.  You can read all about that project by clicking the button on the left sidebar.  Little pieces of applique is not at the top of my skill level, but I persevered.  I'm sure the individual who receives this quilt will not be aware of its imperfections.

and as in the previous row, I have not stitched down the appliques yet, but they are fused.  I hope I don't leave all of that chore to the end of the project.

I also have the Keys to Contentment block #8 finished.  This is a monthly collection of  embroidered blocks which will be framed with piecing and turned into a small quilt.  October is the last month for this project.  Ignore that loose piece of red thread sitting on the block, please.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Americana QAL Row 3

I stitched up Row 3 yesterday.  It's a time eater to rummage thru scraps to find just the right pieces and try to make them all different.  To top it off, I pulled out a lovely FQ for the background, started cutting and sewing, then remembered that it needed one half yard for background.  Oops, had to improvise, again.  But it's all done, except for stitching down the fusible applique and adding some patriotic star buttons, just for fun.

Thankfully, Deanna used a multitude of photos in the instructions or I never would have gotten them sewn together correctly.  You can read all about this project by clicking the Americana Row QAL button in my left sidebar.

Americana QAL - Row # 1

I've spent a part of the last several days working on Row 1 of the Americana Row QAL.  It has 8 star blocks at 6 inches with spacers.  The entire row measures 62-1/2 inches long.

I substituted a Carol Doak star block in place of the original pattern because it was so easy to make in 4 parts.  Here is the row in 2 sections.

Last week I made up Row 2.  You can see it  HERE .  If you're interested in joining this QAL, click on the image on the left sidebar to take you to the contact info.

I'm linking up with Judy at Patchwork Times.  Hop on over there to see what other creative quilters are working on today.

Americana QAL - Row 2

It's July!  When did that happen?  Some folks think they're over-achievers when they wish to add 3 new BOM's to their list.  Well, aren't they gullible! lol   Why do designers come out with all these new projects in the middle of the year, anyway?

Did you notice the new QAL buttons on the left sidebar?  I think bom are easy to do because you can make one small unit a month and it feels like accomplishment.

Today I'll showcase Row 2 of the Americana Row QAL.  It's not too late to sign up.  It just started this month.  Just click the button to go to the Intro.  Come on .... you can be gullible with me please.

This row could have been simple, but I had to fussy cut and piece units for the flag stripes. I also made every block with a different fabric, except the stripes, of course.  This row is  5-1/2" x 62-1/2".

Deana of Dreamworthy Quilts wrote the pattern files for the Americana Row quilt.  The instructions are awesome!  great diagrams, charts to organize cutting measurements, step-by-step, a hand-holding pattern.  Rows 1 and 2 were released together, so you are not behind.  I think I'll work on Row 1 now.

Have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by!
