Quilt 4 Kids 19 - 9 and 19-10

Used the same free motion quilting design on these.  THey are both identical, so only posting one full pic.  These are my two quilt for kids done for May, and with 3 days to spare !  Kelsey got her back end in the pic too.  This is a free pattern I've shared before... created by Preeti of Sew Preeti Quilts.  You can get your own copy  HERE .  Scroll down a bit.

Here is the fleece backing. Chose the colors for the top based on the backing.  I seem to be doing that with these batches of kids quilts.

and here is the two quilts together,  they are identical, right up to the binding.

RSC19 - Aquas

I was working on April's color - aqua.  A short work of it this month, 28 HST and 3 uneven 9 patches.  I should have taken a photo before I sewed the row together.  Some hst are hiding off the end of the board.

365 Day QAL - Project 1

This top was prepared with the revised Alabama Rambler block.  You can read more about this block  HERE.     The 365 day quilt along will start June 1st and I made this  top to accommodate many daily quilting designs that will be shared by Natalia Bonner over at Piece and Quilt.com .

I have been on a piecing binge these last several days and I'd really rather quilt !  But had to get tops ready to sandwich,  then let the quilting begin.

I know this 365 Day QAL will take several quilt tops and that's okay.  It's opportunity to mix it up with other designs.  You dont want them all alike.  I'll be off shopping for some ombre fabrics for other designs and will do some whole cloth.  What fun !

Here is Project 1 - no official name yet.  It's not really wrinkled.  It's the flannel underneath that isnt  laying snug against the board.  I will get it sandwiched on Tuesday at church during a marathon basting day.

I'm linking up with Small Quilts and Doll quilts today for Design Wall Monday.  Be sure to visit there to see what other creative quilters are sharing today.

Alabama Rambler revised - AQAW 1a

This is the original block

My revised - simplified version

Quilt Layouts:

My fav,-- 9 blocks @ 17" each because I wanted the squares on point to be 6 inches.  I will use all these areas for free motion quilting designs.  A 365 block-a-day quilt along with Natalia Bonner.  You can read about it  at Piece and Quilt  HERE .  You could use these open areas for fussy cut motifs or embroidery or even a pieced block.

Here is a 12 block layout - 51 x 68.  A really nice lap size

or an on-point layout?  this one is 40 inches square

I plan to assemble in diagonal rows of squares and geese.  seems simpler to me. but here is a typical rotary cutting plan ...............

17  inch   block

I think the colors are happy and remind me of summer.   I'm sharing with Judy for Design Wall Monday.

Quilts 4 Kids 19-7 and 19-8

Still keeping with my personal goal of 2 quilts 4 kids per month.  I have already decided to change this goal to 1 larger teen quilt per month for next year.

Okay,  these are # 7 and # 8  finished.  Not thrilled with these.  Hoping some child will love them.  Fortunately the 2 kits for May are much brighter looking.
