365 Day Quilt Along

This was a quilt along (last year?) .... quilting a block a day for a full year, ending May 2020.  It was provided by Natalia Bonner of Piece and Quilt.com.  When you do all the blocks, it made 7 quilts.  I did them all !  I won this panel from Piece and Quilt.  I made most of my panels and enlarged them with borders.  I stitched this panel last year and set it aside waiting for quilting inspiration for the final border , as it is 10 inches wide.

So now it is finished.  I wanted to keep the design in the border to coincide with the styles in the blocks, which were all done with rulers, so  I kept to straight lines for the border.  I tried to keep it suitable for a male.  I gift most of my quilts, since I make so many  and it's difficult to make them male friendly.  The border fabric is same as the backing, which was a wide back fabric.  The quilt measures 65 x 75 with a double layer of cotton batting.

Natalia Bonner is having a new quilting along, beginning  September 9th.  It is called 9 Patchalong 2.0.  It is an adorable quilt and will be so fun to quilt up.  If you want to join in the fun,  check it out   HERE. .

In the meantime, I'm joining these linky parties this week.  Be sure to visit them to see what other creative quilters are sharing.

RSC21 - Purples

I spent today sewing some blocks for my RSC21 project.  Today it was the purple bin.  I made my 5 half log cabin blocks (a design created by Cynthia of Quilting is More Fun Than Housework .  I couldn't see the sense of returning small scraps back into the bin, so I made 8 crumb blocks.  These will be the centers of future quilts.

I'm linking up with Angela of   Soscrappy   today  and  Cynthia for   Oh Scrap  on Sunday.  Be sure to visit these sites to see what other creative quilters are sharing.

Autumn Pumpkins

I made an autumn tablerunner and wall banner last week, finished the binding this morning.  This project was 100%  inspired by Vicki of   knitbug2 .   Thank you, Vicki,  for showcasing your creative ideas to help motivate our journey.  You can also visit her Etsy shop  for lovely seasonal patterns

I made this banner design into a tablerunner by placing a banner on each end and a center block to separate the two.  It finished at 12" x 64".  The appliques are top stitched down and FMQ in the piecing.

I used a pretty print by Kansas Troubles for the backing,  cotton batt & gold Glide thread for the stitching,

Here is the banner finishing at 12" x 26 " .

Royal Floral - 21-5 - a 3-yard quilt

This quilt began by pulling a print fabric from stash that I wanted to use up;  pull 2 other fabrics to compliment the print................. then hunt for a pattern.  I chose this pattern called Pink Picture Frame.

WoodValleyDesigns  for Pink Picture Frame pattern

and   Free Patterns (woodvalleydesigns.com) for a large selection of free patterns.

I added an extra border to use up the fabric , so my quilt finished at  53 x 62; a lovely throw size for a sofa.  I quilted it with navy glide thread  and gold glide thread on top.  Each round was quilted with a different design to vary the fun a bit.  This is part of the 3-Yard quilts challenge started by Mary Johnson of Heartstrings.  You will also find her  many wonderful free patterns here in the right sidebar:

MaryQuilts.com

I guess I am not very good with a camera.  The light color in the photo is really a lovely tan/gold fabric which should look nicer than it does here.

Hope Quilt

This is a design by Gudrun Erla of GEQuiltDesigns.com.  She offered this pattern for a minimal fee for a quilt along last year.  The monies raised were given to local chairities in her area during the pandemic.

It had been sandwiched for awhile  and recently I quilted it on my Janome sit-down.  I used a special westalee template and quilted the honeycomb design in the blocks  and straight line grid in the sashing and outer border.  I used gray Glide thread on top and gray bottom line in the bobbin.  It turned out nice and soft flowing.

Here is the full quilt.  It finished at 62 x 82.  I used a layer cake for the blocks.

Tree of Life Miniature - flimsy

I can't believe I've reached the end of this monthly project.   Since my project is a miniature with 3 inch blocks (the original at  For The Love Of Geese   is full size blocks ), there is alot of small seams.  I do not have any quilting ideas for it at this time.  I hate when that happens.!  I've reached out to Denise for quilting suggestions.  I'm sure she will have some creative ideas to share.

So  here is my Tree of Life flimsy.  A  quick measurement is 35 inches.  I had some issues with identifying fabric colors in the chart provided...  blaming some of that on their technical names and some on looking through a computer monitor.  All in all,  I am very happy with the results.  When finished, I think it will take its turn hanging over my mantle.

Thank you, Denise,  for leading us on with this project.  I'm sure there are still other quilters working on their blocks.  I'm gladly joining these linky parties this week.  Be sure to visit them to see what other creative  quilters are sharing.
