RSC15 Sampler - Browns

Caught up on my sampler blocks - here are the brown versions.  Not a great photo.  I am challenged working with the tri rec  rulers - just don't get the units lined up right.  So for the 2nd block, I winged it with a different center.  I had a small string pieced set in the scrap drawer,  I trimmed it up, planning to finish it with corner triangles.  I grabbed the 6 x 12 ruler and started trimming off my center square from the stripset.  Ooops, needed 6-1/2" !  So had to fudge with some trim around that to bring it up to size.

I'm linking up with Angela at Soscrappy, who is the mastermind behind the RSC Challenges.  Hop on over there to see what everyone else is making with their browns.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. Love your blocks--beautiful deep browns you've used in them. Hugs, Julierose

  2. I think that your tri rec block turned out very well. Seam allowances can make a big difference though, in getting the pieces to fit together. Very pretty substitution.

  3. pesky rulers... I tell you I like my basic omnigrid the best for everything except diamonds. I found it's almost always fixable, and no one will know, and beyond that you've made it a bit unique. Ha, there you go. LeeAnna

  6. The top block, which I think is the one you said you had trouble with, looks like it has a Christmas ornament floating in the star. I think it looks good! Well done on both blocks. :- )

  7. Those half inches sure mess things up. My other peeve is the rulers always seem to start the numbers at the wrong end for me. But your blocks turned out very well. Keep up the good work!

  9. Nice save! Took me a while to get the tri recs rulers down.... but after a Bonnie Hunter mystery where I made oodles of them I am pretty good at them. Good thing there is always more than one way to make them with quilting.
