A Quilters Cove Goes RSC - Phase 1 Planning ......

So......  I've had this project on my mind for a few months now after being so inspired by this quilt Cathy at CrazyByDesign shared  on her post  HERE

Initially, we would collaborate together on this project, but upcoming medical issues have put her on a different path of progress, for now.

Today, I will just document ideas and photos that inspire my construction plan.  Beginning January,  I will be working along with the monthly RSC color to construct my Quilters Cove neighborhood.  I will be using some piecing, paper piecing and applique methods to build the quilt.

But first,   I have to choose a layout ............  Hmmm,  so many options.  I began by deciding the overall size it will be and how I will use it.  I will make it a large wall hanging to measure about 50 x 60.  I want it to be interesting, with many elements included such as flowers, trees, small animals, barns, birds, fences, etc.

I also had to decide a style - there is the  traditional house quilt; i.e.

and the folk or whimsical style

or row houses

I have collected several images for possibilities, but I hesitate to share the photos here since I do not own the images.

I know I am drawn to strings and crumbs which become colorful elements and I like the folk style.  I also want an unusual setting.  I have a pinterest board called "Layouts" where I collected unusual layouts where I could pop in a block.  EQ is my best friend when needing specific shapes and sizes to work from.  Yea,  I'm not good at the K.I.S.S. project planning.  You will also find a collection of image ideas in "A Quilters Cove" board.

If you are also inspired to create an RSC Neighborhood and need some help with planning, or pattern sizing or any way that I can share, please be sure to send me an email.
