2012 Free Motion Quilting Challenge

I have made a commitment to participate in the Free Motion Quilting Challenge project in 2012.  I hope  that signing up will make me accountable to do it!  Free Motion Quilting (FMQ) is an important skill to develop if you like to complete the quilting process  to-the-finish..... and I do.    I have avoided using this method for fear I will ruin the quilt top.  It's time to face the fear!

You can find out about the 2012 FMQ Challenge here:

Wish for me- courage and perseverance for this challenge!

  3. So,Billie. We are equals in this challenge. We both NEED to do this! You will just have to dig real deep into your gorgeous stash - try to find an old piece of muslin to scribble onto with thread.

  5. Excellent! I joined too, though I was fearing I would be the only one too inexperienced to even qualify as a beginner.

  6. Ohh. Perhaps I should learn this also. I mean i KNOW that I should learn FMQ but perhaps this would be good as that kick in the pants. Good luck with it Kat...I know you'll conquer this!

  8. Bonni, Do it with us. It is exactly as you say. a kick in the pants for me. I know you wont be able to pass it up. It will be small projects each month to try out the methods. I consider it scribbling with thread.

  13. Yes, I'm already picturing my scenerio, how I'll set up my workspace and motivation. If there is a monthly tutorial, I am thinking to clear the decks (tables) and set up the laptop nearby for visual directions while I practice. They are mentioning a sampler quilt with our FMQ sandwiches? Yea, I'm not picturing that unless it's my 2nd or 3rd practice sandwich. But again, we will all be in good company! So, it's all good! LOL
