RSC16 - A Bushel of Oranges

I've been working on all my RSC projects with orange this week.  I want to be caught up as the remaining 2 weeks in April are full of other commitments.

Where do I start?  I already shared my bearpaws last week... visit  HERE  if you missed it.

Here is the first 4 months of my modified Indian Hatchet.  I love this quilt design with all the scrappy strips and the drama of the black and white.  I must keep this one for myself!  If a family member drools over it too,  I will make another one.  The columns are not sewn together.  I want to decide the color placement after all the rows are made.

Next up is the Column Sampler.  I wanted my quilt longer, so in January I added an extra 9" block. Now I'm compensating all my 6" block rows by making 13 blocks and adding 3" of spacer strips.

Here is the orange buzz saw blocks before they were sewn into a column.

and here are my columns (not sewn together)

I'm off to work on the orange crayon row, plus  I've added another project to my rainbow challenge this year .... churn dashes.  They're so adorable and always calling to me.

In the meantime,  I'm linking up with Angela at Soscrappy.  Visit there to see all the rainbow encouragement you can handle.  And on Sunday, I'll join the scrap party with Cynthia for Oh Scrap.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. You've got so many blocks made already this month that it makes my mind boggle! I've never seen the hatchet block before, but it's certainly an impressive way of using small strips.

  5. Fabulous blocks! Love seeing them all together. Cool to see the EQ layout of the column quilt. I'm adding a skinny spacer between the butterflies and twirl block.

  6. I love seeing all the blocks for the modified Indian Hatchet quilt together. This is another block I have to consider for using all those narrow colorful strips I am saving. Happy weekend
