Again, I have piled it all together on my design wall without the energy to bring out the previous months' parts for a proper group photo.
I did the bear paw block, the sampler row, my modified indian hatchet row, crayon row, 8 scrappy churn dash blocks and 5 over-sized crumb block tops. All this came out of the scrap bin! Evidently, if I didn't do this challenge every month, I would need LOTS more bins.
These crumb blocks will be the beginning practice foundations for my journey into FMQ. They will become hot pads. I have practice sandwiches all lined up to begin FMQ ............................... TODAY. Yes, I am nervous. I must remember to have fun with it and do not judge. I hope it is a positive experience and I can grow in my quilting.
I am linking up with Angela at Soscrappy. Be sure to visit there to see what everyone else is making with their
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Just jump in on your FMQ, practice is the only way to learn. I am trying to apply that to myself too, with some custom quilting on a new design.
ReplyDeleteI love green, so your design wall is looking just beautiful to me! Good luck practicing your FMQ. What a good idea to make crumb blocks to practice on and then turn into hot pads. I need to borrow your idea, as I need practice, too - and I'm always afraid I will mess up whatever the project is!
ReplyDeleteFMQ - keep it simple, give yourself plenty of time, and then just do it. The more you do, the easier it gets and the smoother your lines are. I'm still learning, too.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you managed to pull out some purple. They look very nice.
ReplyDeleteLovely projects up on your wall...Would you like some purples? I could definitely send you out some...let me know hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteI have been FMQing for a couple years and still consider myself a beginner. Just enjoy the process (it's fun!) Youwill be more critical of yourself than anyone else will be, but try not to be. It gets better with practice. Your green production is amazing, especially those drool-worthy Indian hatchets!!
ReplyDeleteI love all your greens together on the wall. Sometime, I want to make monochromatic quilts using all kinds of blocks together, like your wall!
ReplyDeleteYour choice of green is very good. It blends with everything. As for FMQ, just dive right in on those pot holders. You will do a fine job. You are an excellent quilter already, so have a good time with it.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! I've been playing the practice FMQ game and I'm having a ball! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving all of your light green blocks!! A personal favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteGreat blocks! I love seeing these every month! Good luck with your FMQ. Remember to breathe and you will be fine! It takes practice, practice, practice, but be sure to have fun!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful collection of blocks. Always a joy to see. And the lime green feels so refreshing.
